Propylene Glycol is an organic compound made by reaction of propylene oxide with water, viscous colorless liquid which is nearly odorless with a faint sweet taste. Uses of Propylene Glycol are; Fragrance Additive, Cosmetics and Personal Care, Food and Flavorings, Pet Food, Animal Feed, Pharmaceutical and more. Propylene glycol is safe to use in a wide range of consumer products, including food, animal feed, beauty and pharmaceuticals, as well as industrial applications. It's frequently used as a stabilizer and to keep food moist.
Propylene glycol is miscible with water and many organic solvents and will dissolve several resins, dyes and essential oils. In cosmetic and pharmaceutical formulations, propylene glycol acts as a softening agent, ointment base, humectant and emollient. Many cosmetic formulations using lemon or other natural fruit juices contain propylene glycol as an inhibitor of mold growth.
Use as skin moisturizer and emulsifier or great for fragrance oils, soaps, creams, and pharmaceutical products.
